Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know if Robins lay a second time, late in the season? We have a baby robin in the grass. Mother has been coming to feed it. It can't fly, either too young or sick. We don't see the nest.

I'm afraid the cat will get it.

This seems so odd this late into the summer.

Many perching birds lay up to three cluctches a summer. A baby robin on your lawn is perfectly normal. You can get a small strawberry or tomato basket to fix into a nearby tree, and put the robin into it to keep it safe from cats. The mother will find it.

Thanks, MacBeth, we are all really concerned about what to do with it. My son is looking for something to put it in right now.

Kevin got the bird in the little make shift nest, but it jumped right back out. At the same time mother was putting up a huge protest and a blue jay was dive bombing Kevin. Then all the other kids burst outside to see what was happening and the cat arrived.    Such commotion!

Now the baby is flitting around on the ground. Mother is scolding and we locked the cat in the dog kennel. (He will probably not forgive us for days.)

This is typical of our nature study experiences.
