Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ok not strictly Montessori - but kind of in the philosophy.

- Wedgits - and I bought the pattern cards - my 3 year old loves to choose 4 or 5 cards and follow the patterns
Wedgits starter set

- Melissa and Dough See and Spell - he spends hours doing this and showing off to his dad that he can "spell"
See and spell

- Mini motors with activity cards - like the Wedgits - he likes to choose a few cards and do the patterns himself.

These have really helped keeping the little guy busy while I am busy with the new baby.

Those all seem like a lot of fun! I have been going back and forth on the wedgits for years now and have never gotten them. (I know my dd would like them, but I am just being stingy ).

Theresa and Melinda,

Take my advice -- buy the wedgits. My mil gave us a set about 3 years ago (before they had become "famous" among educationists) and we all LOVE them. We left them out on the table and all ages would build with them (from my then 2 yos thru the teenagers and dh and I too!). They are so fun to play with. I just ordered the pattern cards because we quickly went beyond the puzzles included in the original packaging ...

It's a great way to do spatial reasoning practice and the kids have so much fun they don't know they're learning -- how's that for a plan?????

Where is the best place to buy them? I have 2 TRU gift cards sitting around, and, of course, I can't get them there

Love, love. love the Wedgits! I've been hemming and hawing on spending the money on them, and for my ds birthday, my cousin and his wife bought them for his - he and his younger brother have been working with them constantly. We are working up to using the pattern cards, but they love just using their creativity to build different things with them.

We found them at Tree Top Toys. But Fat Brain Toys also has them, and they have fabulous customer service and it was where I kept putting them in and out of my cart before someone bought them for us at a real store.
