Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A quick question. I started Montessori with ds when he was just under 2.5 years old. For the last two years I've struggled with making my presentations without adding in talk along the way. With the start of a new year, I have renewed interested in trying to do better at this. Any ideas or tips? How are you doing in this regard???

This is SO HARD for me. I have the hardest time with MY 2 yo as he is just so young still, and grabby, and bouncy! So for me, it's really a matter of patience and PRAYER!! It's not nearly as difficult with my 5 yo or the older two for that matter. I thinkfor me, it's just going to come with experience and my 2 yo's maturity level

Blessings!

This is VERY hard for me too! But, when I DO it, it's very effective. I always try to focus on smiling and pursing my mouse in concentration. Cuz you can't smile/purse-mouth AND talk at the same time!

Also when I feel the desire to talk, I try to first say, "hmmmmmm," and then if I really think i need to say something, I'll say it. But, often the couple seconds of "Hmmmm," makes me think twice about talking.

And, my prayer goes like this: "Lord, help me not to talk."

Come to think of it, I pray that a lot

If I'm presenting something right from the beginning, I'll name it and the materials - usually not in full sentences - just naming. Then I'll just do the work myself, sometimes asking if the children would like to try it themselves after I shown them a bit.

Other times, if I've just sat down and started to do a work - I'll say, "Let me finish and then I'll tell you about it - you can watch if you want."

I do have to remind myself that the focus should either be on listening or on gestures, not both at the same time. This helps to keep me quiet.

I usually ending up speaking at some point, but starting with nothing, and taking a breath before each word, really helps.

My dh would LOVE it if I adopted this prayer on a regular basis!
