We are going to be getting paperwork next week to begin the process of adoption! Yikes!
We have biological kids dd 10, ds 8, dd 6 (in a few weeks), ds 2. We are waiting for parental rights to be terminated (approx 3 months out) for two sweet sisters ages 17 months and 4 1/2years. They have been living in a foster home for a year of some acquaintances of ours at church and will continue to do so until the girls are in their forever home. We want to be considered to be that home! (Due to foster family circumstance, they won't be adopting them.)
Any tips, suggestions, encouragement to offer during this time?
Thanks and God bless, Katherine

I just really feel that if it is meant to be, if God has it in His plan, it will happen. Both of our adoptions happened in a special way and God's timing means everything. If He means for them to be part of your family, they will be with you. If not, He has someone else in mind for you! I cannot imagine it being any other way. Just pray for God's will in all that happens. ( I lost a baby to miscarriage 2 years before our first adoption and as painful as that was, if it had not happened, we would not have adopted at that time and would not have our ds with us today. It all happened really quickly and everything fell into place beautifully.) I wish you well!
Anne

Wow! I'm just so impressed that your husband obviously wants this! We only have 3 kids and my dh is constantly worried about being responsible for them. God be with you! Hope it works out.

Wow -- how lovely. I will include you in our Hail Mary tonight and hope that God's Will is clear for you so that you may add these beautiful children to your lovely family.
I am actually in the same boat right now, though nothing quite as concrete as your situation. I have a former foster child who had some "situations" arise and we were able to get back in contact with her (she is 4 now) so if things don't continue to go well with her bio father, they will contact us. Also, a friend's sister has two littles and a nasty crack habit. If she is unsuccessful in kicking that, we have expressed an interested in helping them out. And then I pray....
Today's gospel, at least in our parish, was about that -- persistence in prayer and that God wants nothing more than to give what we ask for. (I felt like our priest was talking right to me!) We need to go to Him with everything. My desire for more children comes from Him and so I am going to Him, persistently to find out how to complete that task!
Please keep us posted on developments.

Oh, Sharon, how true! Our priest's homily was soooo targeted at adoption!! That adopted children are truly their (new) parents' child and they should ask of them as they would their bio parents!! The foster mom asked me if I saw my neon sign today!! LOL
I agree with you, Anne. It is totally in our Heavenly Father's loving hands. We trust in Him with all our heart and know He has an amazing plan for us! This timing is definitely not ours, either!
Parental rights have not been terminated yet. Petition to do so will happen this week. That process will take approx 3 months. That'll give us time to go through the homestudy, classes, etc. to prepare for the adoption.
God bless, Katherine
