I've seen it at AC Moore, but in the preschool power videos the kids make their own with clean sand and food coloring. Haven't tried that here, though....

Really pretty colored sand at A.C. Moore. Different varieties. They are in the dried flower/vases/decorative rocks section.

Thanks Jenn and Melinda!
Michael's had colored sand, like you said, Jenn....in the dried flowers/vases/decorative rocks area. Bland colors though.
I also found it at Montessori-n-Such where I'm placing an order within the next month anyway.

I found mine at Michaels in the kids crafts section. It is very brightly colored, used for layering in bottles or making mandalas. It came in a box with about six different colors.

That's surprising. I bought some gorgeous blue sand around Easter time. There were tons of colors!

Just bumping this up to say that I saw bottles of colored sand at Hobby Lobby yesterday on the vacation Bible school clearance row. There were large bottles of it for ~65 cents.

I just had another *Colored-Sand-Sighting* at Discount School Supply.
It was very exciting.

Oh Suzanne - I just gave away 12 unopened 1 lb. jars of colored sand in various colors (bought them a few years ago from OTC)- tried to give them to lots of people I knew locally - finally gave them to Salvation Army. They would probably have cost a lot to ship though. I am so sad - I would so have to loved to give them to someone I know

I just bought 2 1 pound bags of colored sand at Michael's...pink and blue. I have seen more vibrant shades elsewhere but this will do. In the kids section of crafting, I think it came to $3.70. HOpefully, this is enough...

*WARNING* If you're going to Discount School Supply be prepared to buy more than just colored sand.
