Have any of you experienced long-term urinary pain? I first noticed this last September and have seen multiple doctors (the urinary pain was always a side issue to other symtoms I've been having) and no one has made a big deal of it. No UTI's or history of UTI's here. Went to doctor yesterday and he mentioned interstitial cystitis, recommending me to a urologist. I will be calling today to set up an appointment and I'm feeling a little anxious about it!
Also, I'm interested in knowing if any of you have ever experienced urinary pain that is caused by stress? I heard somewhere that this can happen and wonder if that might be what's going on?!
TIA for your help,
Kristin

Interstitial cystitis supposedly can be stress-related. Have you had any c-sections, or do you have a history of endometriosis? Either of those can cause adhesions to the bladder and be a source of discomfort.
I hope you can get some good help and relief- nothing is more stressful than a nagging symptom like that.
Keeping you in my prayers...

Kristin, I experienced IC after my last c-section. I had adhesions on my bladder that the dr. cleaned off. I still have occasional bladder pain and it's been 10 months. I have heard that IC can be stress related.
Prayers that you are feeling well soon...

I am so dealing with this right now!!! IC that is. I have had a several things tried including bladder installtions of medicine. And it looks like all the traditional stuff is not working for me. One of the country's best Doc on this is in my area, only problem is he is not a doctor on my insurance plan so I have to pay for most of it myself. I have had other medical problems that included having to have a partial hystercotomy and 95 percent of my colon removed. So they believe that my IC was caused by one of these surgerys. I deal with pain daily and the embrassment of having to go to the bathroom every 1/2 hour or more. No sleep at night from constant getting up and down with this. Sorry I don't mean to ramble here, but this has been going on for a year and half and I am so tired of it all. I am physically and mentally worn out. I do hope you are in the majority and one of the treatments will work for you. I will keep you in my prayers!
God bless,
P.S. Stress is a factor in IC, also foods ones high in acid (like most fruits, tomatoes etc...)

No, I have not, but I remember my mother having this problem many years ago. An wise and elderly friend of hers advised her to drink Parsley Tea. She chopped parsley and brewed it like tea, and, at least for my mother, it cured the problem.
My mother often talked about what a great cure that was.
[And while I am here, may I just say--Jackie, I love reading your children's names, and "Sister Grace of Benedictines (18)" just reaches the warmest place in my heart. I think I may have said this to you before, and, if so, forgive me, but my enthusiasm requires me to repeat myself!]

Alice, I've heard that about parsley tea also, but just one word of caution, if you are nursing, parsley has been known to cut down milk supply. If your not nursing, go for it! :)

Thank you, everyone, for the kind support and advice. I had an appendectomy when I was twelve and two c-sections. It's interesting to know that it can be triggered/caused by surgery and if that is indeed what I'm dealing with, I'd imagine that the c-sections may have done it! Since I'm not nursing right now I will just have to give the parsley tea a try!
Jackie, I will pray that you are able to find some relief from your symptoms. From what I'm experiencing and all I've read, this can be a very painful and challenging problem to live with. Hugs and lots of prayers for you!
