Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been itching to do this, but with showing the house, and then thinking we'd be moving mid-August, I hadn't put any up.

This weekend I dragged a bookcase into my kitchen near the little table and chairs and set up an art shelf. The kids now have free access to playdough, waterpaints, scissors, paper, tape, crayons, colored pencils and a hammering activity all the time.(Dd is almost three, so she is pretty much past the fling and dump stage. ) The rule is that they have to clean up the materials and put them back on the shelf

Ds thought he'd die of joy- he can cut or paint anytime he wants. He's been painting and cutting non stop for two days. He goes over to the shelf, looks at it and says, "Hmm, what will be my next work?"

Maybe the novelty will wear off, but, since they can get all their own materials, they are spending much more time doing artwork (vs having to ask me all the time to get out the paints, etc). It was very eye-opening for me, and I felt kind of bad I hadn't given them more access before.

Now ds is asking for a science shelf for experiments...
