Hi ladies, I'm looking for Rocks and Minerals three-part cards/photos and thought for sure Montessori Materials had them, but they don't or at least I didn't find them.
Anyone have a set of these or know a good source for download. I'm trying to do this for free Any help is appreciated!
Blessings!

If you want to make up your own cards, you can find great definitions here:rock key-types of rocks
Great photos and definitions here:virtual egg carton
This site has a great collection of photos, but the definitions are a bit brief and technical:volcanoworld rock and mineral slide show
Hope that helps. And if you get them done, please share!

Theresa,
Are you sure I can't entice you to move to Chicago? I think I really need you next door

If I even mentioned it to the girls, they'd have our bags packed before I even blinked!

Thanks for the links for the rocks/minerals! Whenever I get caught up from this latest round of handmade, I'll look into doing some of these. We'll be visiting Hot Springs in the fall, and I know we'll see lots of quartz there, so I need to have some reference cards ready.

Allrighty, here are the Three-Part Card files I just uploaded to MM_Share. I think they came out pretty good and would look super printed on high gloss photo paper
Agate/Basalt
Granite/Greenstone
Iron Formation/Limestone
Mica Schist/Quartzite
Gabbro/Gneiss
Sandstone/Taconite Ore
I hope someone can use them!!
Blessings!

Meredith,
I don't know how you find the time! However, I can't get the links to work? It could be me, but i thought I'd mention it in case it is the link.
Can't wait to see your hard work.

I couldn't either. Is MM_share something you need to join to access?

Now. I purchased the R&D geology manual, I can't remember why, but there it is. It is not like the math manuals. It has a few activities, but no presentations, really. Lots of definitions, lots of information, but I don't have any idea how to present it. Am I supposed to in some way make this information available so the kids can explore it on their own after I've presented a great lesson or key lesson?
I had considered purchasing botany, zoology, chemistry, physics; but if that's the way they are, perhaps I would do better with something like Real Science.
There's nothing in Montessori's elementary books. Is this one of the deep dark secrets of Mont. training, how to teach science?
Ideas? Observations?

Celeste, these are great questions and I haven't come up with anything "presentation-wise" yet for you I'm hoping Karen might be ale to shed some light here or Lori??? With my Rocks and Minerals I was just planning on having them all available and hope it will spark further research.
Let me get back to you here....

Has someone already linked to this? Rocks and Minerals Pocket Chart
Just ran into that while exploring Oriental Trading Company. Some cool wall charts there, but more than I'd like to spend (which, let's be honest, is $0).
