I am interested in buying the Swallows & Amazons books....however....after reading some old threads I am wondering if I should invest in the books or the cd's?

We don't have the CDs but have the books and they have made good read alouds and great for silent reading, too.

But I liked the novels as a child, too, so I admit to bias towards the books.

Hi Betsy! We LOVE the Swallows and Amazons series- although... I have to admit that Tim has been reading them to the boys very slowly over the years, so I have not always been paying close attention to what was occuring in the stories. We are on the 4th book in the series. If I had to do it over again, I might be tempted to spring for the CD's. It would be a wonderful story for car trips!!
Dominic still can't follow very well, at just turned 5. but that could be his very active personality as well!
I think I owe you an e mail- sorry! We are dealing with Paul's broken foot atm
