I went to our first prenatal appointment thinking that I was 11 (10, according to my calculations) weeks along. Turns out, I'm only six, according to the size of the baby. The doctor said that it is common for people to miss a cycle and *then* become pregnant. I'm to go back in two weeks in hopes that they'll find a heartbeat.
Several things encourage me. One is that at this size, a baby will usually pass uninhibited if it has passed away. The other is that the doctor seemed so sure that everything is going along as planned, just a month later. I spoke with my mom who suggested that maybe the fact that my little one is nursing more vigorously lately caused the missed cycle. And my body feels pregnant ... you know, sick at odd times of hte day, able to stomach some things, unable to even smell others, headachy, bloody noses, exhaustion ... *sometimes.*
What *discourages* me is that the baby I lost in February was 3 weeks behind in size and it was because I had lost him before my first appointment. That coupled with those few days I do *not* feel pregnant ~ having energy and go without eating more than three meals a day ~ can tend to throw me off balance sometimes.
Regardless, I would love your prayers as I know that the more warriors storm heaven for us, the better chance this baby has.
