Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I read recently that lanolin containing breastfeeding products are not safe to use because lanolin is now considered carcinogenic. Has anyone else heard this? I have a tube of Lansinoh I was going to be bringing with me to the hospital, and now I'm concerned.

Thanks in advance!

From looking at various articles online, I saw that the concern was DDT pesticide with the lanolin. Lansinoh is a medical grade lanolin so the pesticide residue is not a concern. Sorry for the confusion for you. Also, if you are so inclined there are organic brands of lanolin that you can find in health food stores or you can use olive oil on your nipples if that is what you used the Lansinoh for.

Hope this helps,
Michelle

Michelle,

Thank you so much for clearing this up for me! I have a tube of Lansinoh all ready to go with me, and wasn't wanting to have to go out and get something new since the Lansinoh is practically full!

God bless!

Lansinoh does contain a preservative. Most people are fine with it. If it bothers you, I have recently ordered an obscene amount of organic lanolin from New Zealand that I am planning on sharing with whoever needs it. 2 pounds of lanolin lasts even a mom like me 10 years- LOL! It was just a great price. There are lots of really good organic lanolins on the web, but most people have zero problems with lansinoh- it's great stuff.
