Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I read that tonight you should be able to see Venus, Regulus (bright star in Leo) and Saturn in the Western horizon.

They suggested that you hold out the knuckles of your right fist and align them with the western horizon at sunset. The article said that you should see Venus at your thumb, Regulus at your index finger, a thin crescent moon at your ring finger and Saturn at your pinkie.

ALSO...

on August 13th the Perseid Meteor shower occurs during a new moon so you should be able to see several shooting stars a minute.

lastly, on August 28th, just before dawn there is to be a total lunar eclipse. when the moon moves through the shadow of the Earth, it will turn a coppery red.

much peace,
Ryane

Ryane, thank you for all these great tips! My boys love watching the sky at night! I am adding your notes to my calendar right now.
