Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I haven't read any of Montessori's books and I'd like to understand a bit about the 3-hour work period. In which book(s) does she talk about this? If anyone can give a brief explanation about it, I'd really appreciate it. Somehow I feel that this is more workable in a school environment with many children and a classroom full of materials. But how can I do this at home with limited materials and only 2 children, one of whom is a 2.5yo boy who likes wrecking more than building? And if I'm not mistaken, the Charlotte Mason/Real Learning approach advocates shorter lessons of 10-15 minutes per topic? For those of you who incorporates both methods, how do you work this out in your schedules?

Thank you very much in advance for your input.

Lorraine, Welcome!    We discussed that a lot on this thread. HTH.

Thanks Jennifer. Yes, that is a very helpful thread. Reading Lori's explanation on differences in home and school dynamics made me feel a lot better. I just didn't think I can "fill up" a 3-hour work period and now I know I don't have to!

Thanks!
