Has anyone purchased any of their Montessori materials from this site before?? It looks fairly nice, I'm just curious about quality for the price, etc?
Anyone? Also if you have other eBay sources for Montessori that you like, can you please link them here for all of us
Blessings!

I have a few of their things and they are nice. I have been using the astronomy cards and riddle stories... The riddle stories are basically "who am I" type questions for each card. I don't know if they still carry the same ones as I got these at least a year ago. In all honesty, I have been making most of my own lately.
One thing that I do like to find is anything I can have in a downloadable file...which some places do sell...that way if one card gets milk spilled on it or the baby eats it...etc, it is just a matter of a date with the printer and laminator to make it work again.
Hmm...just thinking of the laminator makes me want to get moving with it again...I need to work on shaping up my pink, blue, and green cards and my punctuation stories!
Grammar ...need more grammar....
God love you!

I've not ordered from that seller yet (I have plans) - there are a few Montessori sellers on EBay who are quite wonderful and have good materials - and then one or two who I would NOT recommend (damaged and missing items, etc) - can't think of names right now, but if anyone wants them, please PM me.

That's my friend Janelle who runs the Learning Collection site - although my guess is that she'd rather have you guys order from her stand-alone site and not eBay (that way she doesn't have to pay eBay fees). Her site is: www.montessori123.com.
She re-named it last year and has yet to switch her eBay store over, but she's been busy setting up an actual store in Seattle - she's moved from Alaska - so she hasn't gotten around to it.
I've ordered from Janelle, and her materials are good. I would recommend buying a few items to see if you like her style (in terms of font, layout, etc) and then buy more if you do.
The really nice thing, of course, is that she offers her materials cut and laminated. I have no idea how she gets all that done, but her kids are in high school so that helps a lot!

Lori you are a gem I would MUCH rather buy from someone's website like yours than from eBay! We are just collecting all the possiblities for people to have choices! I'm SO glad you chimed in here. I am a former Seattlite so I am excited for her to get up and running!!
We are so appreciative of Montessori ladies such as yourselves to be able to purchase such beautiful quality items from, they are wonderful!! Thanks again!!
Blessings!

Well, I got my start on eBay - I had an eBay store for two years and was a PowerSeller that whole time. There's not much I don't know about that place, but I'm so glad I left. There have been a lot of changes within the past year, and it's just not a great place to do business anymore.
Most, if not all, reputable Montessori eBay sellers also have off-site stores. In many cases, the prices at their stand-alones are better, again because they don't have to pay eBay fees. Also they often have more items and more selection at their off-eBay stores.
To find their off-eBay site, you can click on their "About Me" page - that's the only legal place to put an off-eBay link.
There are a few exceptions, like my friend Shelby who sells handmade bead stairs at her eBay store but nowhere else. I love her beads; I have "real" beads from another Montessori seller but I like having two sets around; also I like that Shelby has bead squares, snake game beads, and bead chains that all match her bead stairs. Here's her eBay store:Kiddliwinks
I think I met Janelle (Learning Collection/Montessori123) when she emailed me not long after I started selling on eBay. She said that I reminded her of herself, since she used to be a Montessori elementary teacher who decided to homeschool her kids and kind of fell into having a Montessori business. We've been able to trade tips and such, and I love that the Montessori community is so warm that we can be friends even though we're competitors. (I don't have to tell you guys about the warmth of the Montessori community - this forum is amazing!)
If you have any questions about any other eBay sellers, or buying on eBay in general, please let me know. I used to be a star in the eBay Answer Center (where members can come to get help from other members) and once I even helped write an extensive article for eBay's monthly newsletter.

Lori - you are such an awesome resource for all of us!! I'm so glad you're here.
I have a sort of personal question How old are your kids? I know you've mentioned that you have a daughter and a son on your blog. I was just curious.
Thanks again for always popping in at the right minute!

My son, Samuel, is 6 (7 in September). My daughter, Anna, is 3 1/2. I purposely don't mention them by name in my blog or put up pictures of them - I know lots of other people do that with their kids, which is fine, I've just never wanted to.
I think a lot of that is because of having a business...I just like to keep business & personal stuff separate.
I also lost a baby at 26 weeks of pregnancy - she was stillborn - before S & A came along. It will be 11 years in August and I plan on blogging about it on the anniversary of her birth. I normally don't mention it to people online - but now it just seems like the right time.

Lori-
You are right to feel safe here in mentioning your precious little one that you lost. So many of us here have experienced that pain, and walk daily with this hidden sorrow.
I have experienced this pain twice, once with an early miscarriage - Grace. The other loss was the heaviest cross I have ever had to carry. His name was Matthew, and we discovered at 16 weeks that he had a death sentence. He had Down's and a birth defect common to Down's that would never allow his lungs to develop. I carried him for 20 more weeks until his death at 36 weeks. The pain of encountering strangers who saw my growing pregnancy and questioned as to joyful preparations were particularly hard. We were preparing for a funeral Mass instead of a new baby. The graces I received through the loss of this child were uncountable! Sometimes the need is so strong to remember them out loud. I blogged about my experiences around the anniversary of their deaths as well. Please don't feel that you have to, but if you're interested you can read about Grace and Matthew here. They are very much a part of our family!
I'm so glad you felt comfortable enough with us to share your joys and sorrows! It's good to be able to have an idea of the ages you have - and I love the names of your kids - Samuel was one of our top picks for a boy's name. We have Sarah (10 1/2) Mark (6 1/2) and John Paul (every bit of 2 1/2!) and a baby due in March.

Thanks for sharing your story, Jen. It's funny how no matter how much time goes by, these babies stay in our hearts and on our minds.
Looks like we have similar taste in names - the daughter I lost was named Sarah, and Anna's middle name is Grace. You can see why I chose the names we did - after losing Sarah, we prayed for Samuel just like Hannah did. And Anna (the Latin form of Hannah), means 'grace' so Anna is our double grace =)
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I pray that everything goes well.

I have also lost two, one before any other's were born and one in between my 1st and 2nd ds's. It's so hard, especially when you hear of others sorrow's, you feel that pain all over again with them. I think that's what the Church had in mind with the Communion of Saints! Thanks ladies for sharing yours here. There is so much comfort when two or more are gathered in His name! My oldest dd's middle name is Grace (as was her maternal Great Grandmother) and my dh is a Matthew and my 1st ds's middle name is Matthew! Names can be so powerful, especially when used in prayer for the Saints they are named after!
The Kiddliwinks resource looks wonderful, thanks for another great link, I know this will be so helpful to many of us here.
Please do share ladies if you purchase from any of these, we'd love to hear your experiences!!
Blessings!

I have also purchased a few things from Janelle - continent cards and landform cards to beef up a geography unit I had put together. I also ordered the Ancient Egypt unit from her, which included books and cards, a poster and small objects to match witht he cards. With the addition of a couple of extra books from bookcloseouts, and a pyramid block set, this was packed into our airfreight and was waiting for us when we arrived in Suriname. It was so nice being able to jump right into something when all our other school stuff was still on a boat somewhere.
Janelle is a joy to work with and has fabulous customer service.
And hugs and prayers to all you dear ladies who have lost little ones.

Hopping in quickly to answer your question about Montessori materials on Ebay. I have the pre-reading materials from Janelle at the Learning Collection and love them and will be ordering some reading materials for the upcoming year! As for how she gets it all done, I know that her daughters help her --- spoke to one of them on the phone and she was trimming cards as we spoke! Another one you might like to check out is Montessori Print Shop. Very nice materials as well.
