Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

One of my kids is beyond PLL and not ready for Lingua Mater yet. I don't like ILL. Has anyone used Language Lessons for the Secondary Child?

The lack of responses makes me think no one has heard of this or used it. Maybe I will pass on it then.

I did look at it at a conference and I thought it was much like Intermediate Language Lessons - same style. So if you didn't like ILL, you might not like the Queens version.
Sorry that's not much in-depth help!

You know, I did not get these but I ordered their copywork books. They were not what they were cracked up to be... and it took forever for them to come.
They also sent their catalog and I was not overwhenlmed by it....
In general, I'd say that their stuff is not worth what you'd pay.

What about English for the Thoughtful child?

We use the Language Lessons books from Queen's Homeschool Supply. I have an 11yod and twin 9yo boys. We really like them. To me, they are more like English For the Thoughtful Child which I loved but we out grew those. They are also similar to PLL and ILL BUT the picture studies are in color and they can write in the book. That made a huge difference for my children.

I like that it's gentle and does incorporate opportunities to do some creative writing. Some of the books I looked at only concentrate on grammar which seems to drain the joy out of our language arts. Even my boys don't mind working on their books.

So far, I've had a good experience with these books and the company. Keep in mind that the company is run by a family who's 4yo son has leukemia. When there's been a medical emergency with him, that may affect things though it never did with my dealings with them.

Look at some different types of language arts books to see what fits you. I wanted to like Simply Grammar but the language was too archaic for us. PLL and ILL became too tedious for us with all the copying and writing. So this is a fit for us.

Grace & Peace
