Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just joined our local Freecycle Yahoo group about a week ago and was getting discouraged because these people must Blackberries or something to get these messages instantly. Things I was interested in would be gone in minutes. Well today I was truly blessed! I happened to log into my email and saw an offer for fall/winter maternity clothes in my size. The new baby is due in December and I have no fall maternity, my other three were born in summer or early fall. Well I emailed and got the clothes. I picked them up today and they are wonderful. I won't have to buy a thing.

So if you have a Freecycle group in your area I encourage you to join. I'm about to offer some of the toys I've been working on decluttering.

With all the talk of simplifying and scaling back this might be great way to get rid of some of those unused items.

I love Freecycle! That is how I aquired my 5' marble statue of Our Lady!
You are right it is a good way to declutter! I continue to list things and people come right away and pick things up!

Love Freecycle! One year I got two beautiful rose bushes and a RadioFlyer wagon.

We had a few no-shows though, including one where we were asked to leave the boxes of clothes outside (we were going out of town). When we came back they hadn't picked them up, it had rained and the clothes were soaked and getting stinky. Ugh.

We joined a few months back and love it for getting rid of our stuff. I haven't gotten anything yet but after reading Molly posted maybe I will get some religious objects.

Have fun with your new clothes Bethany!

I am always shocked at how quickly people respond to my offers too. I think some users just get into the "I want to win" mentality without bothering to consider if they REALLY want/need something.

I've offered a couple things that got me about a dozen replies and then the interest just fizzles.

(still trying to get rid of all our pea gravel)

I've learned now, not to jump on the first reply either. I wait for a while and read through all of them to select people who show a genuine need or interest in what I offer.

I recently offered free portraits (digital copies) so I could boost my portfolio and got a TON of replies within the first 15 minutes.

Of those I responded to, only a small handful worked out. Some never got back to me. And some didn't even bother to say thank you when I sent their pics!!!

So freecycle is a mixed bag... but it can do a lot of good...
