Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm wondering if any of you are using or planning to use the pink, blue or green series? If so, would you mind sharing what exactly they are and what you'll be doing with them? Did you purchase or go with homemade?

Thanks!

I laughed when I saw your new thread, because I just posted this yesterday:

Montessori Basics 8: Pink, Blue, and Green Series

Nice coincidence! Hope it helps!

Thanks, Lori!!! Your post was very helpful to me! One key thing I learned is that there are many different types of work you can do within each series. This really opened my understanding! A fantastic coincidence!

While visiting your blog I also had a chance to look at many of the wonderful materials you offer and look forward to purchasing some of them!

Thanks again!

Kristin

Hey Kristin! I've been considering the pink, blue, green series myself. My ds is 6 now, and flew through reading faster than I ever expected, or was prepared to teach! As a consequence, he is reading very well on his own, which is great, but may have missed a few important phonemes as he flew past them. I'm considering using it (the green series) as a quick review for him and as a springboard for spelling practice. Like you, I appreciate the many different ways the program can be used.

If I order it will likely be from my favorite online source - Lori's Montessori for Everyone!

I think this method for teaching phonics is fairly straightforward and relaxed and moves at the pace of the child (as does everything Montessori.) The only trouble I foresee is that of a child who is taking off, and is ready to sit down to a *book*!!! I like Little Angel readers and CHC's phonics for little folks readers very much! You might find a few variations as far as the order in which phonemes are introduced, but all in all, I think they'd be fine for providing the "mommy I'm reading a real book" feel.

HTH.

Oh - I forgot to mention, there are a few great sites with free downloads for homemade options...

Livable Learning - scroll down to see her downloads for the pink, blue, green series

Montessori Materials

There are probably others, but these are my favorite two sites for free downloads.

I have to plug Karen Tyler- she offers pink, blue and green "kits" downloads to make your own that feature beautiful hand- drawn pictures (I believe she hired an artist to draw them) She offers a discount to those in her classes! And of course her kits "go" with her albums.
I'm excited to go check out Lori's info!

Can you tell me how to get in touch with Karen Tyler or view her products??? I assume this is the lady with whom many of you are currently taking classes!?

I googled her and came up with Montessori for the Earth (MEARTH). I have worked with this lady before, receiving Infant / Toddler lessons as a package through E-bay, and she is also very good!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and leads, Andrea and Jennifer!

And here are her pink, blue, green reading kits.
