Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ds is almost two, and really needs some furniture his size. I want something sturdy, inexpensive, classic looking and long-lasting...and something that he won't outgrow in 1 year. Asking too much? I find many chairs are too easy to topple over. My mother has a nice table that the legs are unscrewable, so she can slip it under the couch when not in use. I don't plan to put it away all the time, but there will come a time for storage.

I'm really at a loss at good places. Would any Montessori sources be a good place to start? Second hand sources? Any brand name recommendations?

Thanks!

When my dd was almost 2, (she's now 7), we bought a child's wooden table and two chairs at Neals Unfinished Furniture. THere are several unfinished furniture stores around most big cities. I can't remember what we paid (I'm sure it wasn't too much) but the set is STILL in use and has come in quite handy! My dh stained it when we got it. It is sturdy enough that I sat at the table with dd and ds several times. Good luck!

Have you checked out Ikea? We have had good luck with their furniture.

I haven't been to Baby-2-Teen in a while, but they've always had great chldren's furniture. Plus, it's just fun shopping there!
