In order to receive outside therapy the insurance company requires a form signed by the school district that says we don't receive services from them. Until this year we've heard hardly a peep except a cursory "don't you want to have your child receive our services?". I have a feeling this year is different. I'm really worried. They signed the forms stating the services WERE available which means the insurance company will deny.
The lady in charge was gone so we have to wait until tomorrow, but it's really got me worried. I don't want to have to fight them. I also think they want to evaluate LB. It's not going to happen.
I need some calming prayers and prayers that all will work out.

KC you have my prayers, I detest these sorts of problems. They are a pest to say the least. Be peaceful and don't lose your cool,(unlike me) Our LAdy is with you!

Oh, KC, you have my prayers! I have not had any run-ins yet regarding my EB's therapy (the school dept. doesn't even know he exists at this point) but I fear it someday. I pray it all works out for you; please keep us posted.

Have you checked with HSLDA or the Texas Homeschool Coalition on this? There may be limits to what the insurance company can require.

I just read about an HSLDA case in New York in which a school district was trying to force a family to have their special needs child evaluated, but in the end, the federal court ruled in their favor. You can read about it in the current issue of The Home School Court Report (scroll down a bit to the New York bit).
Most likely, KC, your school will not insist on evaluating your son, but it's good to know that that fight has already been fought and won on a federal level.
