Anyone use this program??? It looks intriguing, just wondering what your experience has been. We've been using Bible History by Shuster, and it's not really making it come alive for my dd. Any suggestions or advice here would be so greatly appreciated!!

Meredith, I hesitate to post this because I haven't used the program yet and I am not Catholic. But I will give you my impression as well as I can considering the two limitations listed above.
I am planning on using the Christian Studies I curriculum in the fall. I have both the teacher's guide and student's book. I think if I use this for the following year I will only buy the teacher's guide. We are not big on workbooks here and the student book is a workbook. I think I can cover all that is in the book through discussion and our own map work. I will probably tweak this a bit, but I tweak everything I use.
Keep in mind that this is a curriculum for classical ed. so there is lots of vocab work and memory and map work.
From my point of view, though, this is pretty good but, again, I am not Catholic. Hopefully someone who is can address that part of it for you.

Julia, your impressions are very helpful! I do know that it is not a Catholic works per se, but it is Bible History not church history that I am seeking.
When looking through your teachers guide do you see anything that *jumps* out at you that might be offensive to a Catholic?? We absolutely LOVE their Prima Latina and Latina Christiana Programs for Latin, and I have been very impressed with their Latin Centered offerings. I just need a good springboard for Bible History as the Seton/Bible History by Shuster is NOT engaging or enjoyable. I appreciate any other feedback so much  So glad you're joining us here by the way

I'm not sure if you've taken a look at RC History or not. This is what we use and we love it. I like that there is a distinctly Catholic flavor, because it helps me put things in "big picture" perspective for my kids. I loved using it, and it is set up unit studies style, so that you can cover the same topic with both kids, but keep the reading and activities directed to specific reading/attention span needs. There is a core book - the Catholic Children's Bible from the Daughters of St. Paul, and after doing some core reading, there is the living book selection that adds some life to the portion of history being studied. We mapped out God's plan of salvation for His chosen people with a chronological timeline which was just awesome for providing an idea of where we were in time (since so much of the Old Testament is just a guess as to how many years before Christ it took place. It's called The Great Adventure Bible Timeline. So valuable!!! If you have already done it with your kids, bring it out again no matter what you use, if haven't done it this is a real treasure!
I actually love Memoria Press. I've used Prima Latina, Latina Christiana, Latina Ludere. Like Julia though, I'm not sure about the content from a Catholic perspective. When taking a stroll through salvation history, if you went with Memoria Press, you'd be missing several books of the Old Testament.
HTH - I'm flustered because I posted this when I meant to preview and now my train of thought is gone...oh well. Just thought I'd stick RC History out there in case you hadn't considered it.

Thank you Jennifer, I do know about RC History and really appreciate their approach, it's just VERY detailed, or at least it seemed that way the forst time I looked. I'll check them out again, thanks for your insight, it is appreciated

I have used the first two books and liked them. I did not use it as it is intended. I just read the story and discuss the questions orally with dc. We did some of the memory work but not very consistently. I didn't find anything offensive for Catholics. I thought the background information given in the teacher's guide was very helpful. I have never studied the Old Testament in depth myself so I learned a thing or two!
If you have any specific questions I would be happy to answer.

Meredith, well, I see Natalia answered your questions. Whew! I looked at it more closely last night. I don't think that there would be anything offensive in it, either. If there is, it would probably be in the section of the TM on background. You wouldn't have to discuss that anyway.
After looking at it, I am really looking forward to doing it with my children in the fall. So thanks for kick starting my excitement.

We will be using it too this year. I've looked through it quickly. I didn't see anything that bothered me. I'll have a better feel for it by the end of the year though.

So here's the *big* question - If we are not really workbook learners here  would I be happy with using the Teachers Guide as my spingboard?? I don't really want a new workbook for my dc and then I could use it on several levels picking our own copy/memorywork, and doing narrations and NB pages based on what interests the dc most about a certain section . I printed out the table of contents for each level, so I know exactly what to cover. I think the guide might be the way to go!

Meredith, I think, if you are not a workbook family either then the TM would be the way to go. The TM's have a mini--version of the student book in each lesson. So I won't be using the student book. I think if you use this your own way, tweaking it as you go, you will enjoy it more.
I never even thought of notebooking some of it. What a great idea! Now I am even more excited!
