I just wanted to mention a couple of things for those of you who still might be considering an order with Alison's. I spoke to them on the phone yesterday. The owner was extremely helpful, assuring me that their small company always wanted to make their items affordable especially to homeschoolers and that the homeschool code would be available year-round.
He anticipates leaving the prices at their current low level, but mentioned that if suppliers raise prices, he will have no choice but to follow - one item he mentioned that he knew was going up 50-60% was the geography cabinet!!! Yikes! He says he will try to keep the price low through the summer, but he mentioned that it could go up as early as mid-July. FYI - just in case anyone is considering this purchase...
Also, thought I'd mention that he wanted to pass along that if anyone out there wanted to make a large purchase of sensorial materials after the summer sales that they should call, and he would try to work out a discount or something! He expressed his willingness and desire to work with homeschoolers in particular! How refreshing!
I think if you are considering an order with Alison's you should call them because it is still a small company, and I really got the idea that the owner was willing to bend over backwards to accomodate any special needs. Erin...I was thinking of you in particular here. I don't know if he could do anything for your overseas shipping situation, you may have already checked with them, but it might be worth a call if you haven't. Also, thought I'd mention, would it be easier if one of us stateside called for you? Free minutes on the cell phone would make this call much cheaper for me than for you calling from Australia! PM me if you want me to call a couple of places to narrow things down a bit.
HTH anyone who might be considering an order from Alison's - what awesome customer service they continue to give!

Jennifer, I'm getting ready to place an order with Alison's and I was wondering...what's "the homeschool code?"
Thanks!

I'm glad you found the code Kristine! I know what you mean about just making a decision. I struggled and struggled (read obsessed and obsessed) over who offered the best this for the best that...You know you really want to get your money's worth don't you! I placed what I hope are my final orders this morning! I'm glad to be done with that because I have so many other hands-on type things to do. And I'm ready to get started with a little re-arranging.

I did too...and I missed the clearance prices on Alison's tens and teens boards and their pink tower ...I'd just spent too long eyeing them and thinking it over and now I regret it!

IKWYM!! There's so much to do now...I finally placed my Alison's order today and am heading over to Kid Advance at this late hour (while everyone else in the house is asleep) so I can think without mediating any of my little people's mindless disputes!

Jennifer,
How kind of you to think of me, I'm honoured And to think of ringing for me Thank you too Meredith
I have heard back from Alison's and postage is $350 It is not them it is freight costs. Now I understand why I always have to double costs of America to Australia, exchange rate, postage and then our 10% sales tax over here.
So glad you are all happy with Alison's.
