Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We'll be in WI in August for a family reunion, and have decided to take a day to head to the Dells. Our anniversary falls in the middle of the week we'll be in WI, and we spent our honeymoon at the Dells -- so it seemed like a fun idea to take our kids and celebrate our marriage there.

We went before all the indoor water parks were there, so I'm looking for ideas on which to stay at. I think staying at one of the hotels with water parks will be easier on me with the baby. We plan to drive up Wed or Thursday, stay the night and head back to Milwaukee the following day.

If you have stayed at one of the hotel/water parks, could you tell me which one and what you thought? I've been looking on the web, and am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

thanks :)

Hi,
My family has stayed at Great Wolf and the Wilderness.

I *love* the Great Wolf. We have stayed their two times and each time the rooms were super nice, big and clean. The indoor part is good for slighly smaller kids (like middle school and under) because the rides were a bit smaller, which suited us really well. They also have a very nice "dry" area that my boys (almost same ages as yours) have absolutely loved!! Great Wolf is easy access from the highway and a bit away from the truly commercial (kind of tacky) area. But, as you know, everything i just a minuit away. They also just put in an outlet mall right by Great Wolf.

Last winter we stayed at the Wilderness. It was very nice as well (but not as nice, IMO). The place was expansive and difficult to navigate from the room to the pools. The resturants were very expensive. My dh wanted to add that he thought that they had a bit more to offer for rides (the wave pool is pretty cool)

I can't vouch for the outdoor parts of either of these we have always gone in winter. If you want out door rides Noah's Ark is the place for that (no hotel, though).

My cousin has stayed at Kalarhi (sp?). She though it was nice, but I don't believe that it has a dry area? I haven't been their so I can't commnet.

We has always gone off season during the winter (what a great advantage to HSing). The internet gave us some of the best prices. Also, ask for specials and matching prices. I know that Great Wolf mached a price for us once.

Also, we love the Moose Jaw resturant! Paul Bunion is commercial but kind of quaint for breakfast too.

Ahhh....we just moved from the midwest and I do miss the Dells in the winter.

We haev stayed at the Kalahari and Great Wolf. Both are very nice. Great Wolf has a NEAT indoor play area (non-water) with "ball" pistols and games (free).

Staying at a hotel is a VERY good idea with little ones- you can head back to the room and nap/rest as needed. Or you can head back with one and dh can stay with the others. Also, I think they all have fridges and microwaves so you can eat in.
Waterparks are LOUD! My main complaint.
Both have good areas for younger kids.

I think if I HAD to choose, for your age kids I'd take Great Wolf. But either would be good, and I'm sure there are others.

ETA: you can really get 2 days fun out of a 1 day stay. Usually you can come at 11-noon one day (start using the waterpark, but not usually get your room), and stay until 3-6 the next day (but you must checkout by 11 or whatever). They have locker rooms you can chnage in and put your stuff in (or your car).
Yours in Christ,
Kathy

i have been to them all and with children i prefer great wolf. it is much more family/child oriented then any of the others. (way less groups of roving teenagers cause the rides arent as "cool") but since i now get motion sickness on waterslides, i dont mind, and i find great wolf to be more wholesome for the family.
