Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

well I had a whole little note typed out on this and who knows where it went ?
knowing me I posted it in another message or on a different forum
I've been looking up links for missions etc. to add to our blog ( hopefully will get them up today )
I'd had some concerns over a prayer a friend recently sent me regarding protection .
As some of you know my mission work is intercession /protection .
So when I read this prayer I was really concerned as it really was based on ignornace .
It was lumping the roma ( gypsy peoples ) in with those who cast spells , fairy worhsip etc.
As we know much fear is ignornace based .
I really am seeing the need for us as catholics to help educate each other . When peoples begin to judge each other and fight over things we are not educated in well a persecuted people can turn and do really really harmful things to thier own . Mother Teresa and Oscar Romero are a few who would let us know what horros humanity can place on itself . I see it with the palestinians and here in our own community a desperate people can be capable of doing very desperate things .
Anyway the roma peoples many are very devote catholics . I found this on catholic missions helping the gypsie peopleGypsie People
Many nomadic peoples are or were catholic . My ancestors were some of them . so re-educating each other so we can not be fearful is a must I think .
If anyone is interested in the roma people and music the movie latcho drom is a beautfiul movie .Not much talking just music and dance really .
Some of us just have the nomadic gene its a part of our identity . Many are called missionaries
Much Love , Roxie

Hi Rox!
Some of my paternal ancestors were Roma, mainly from what was then Austria-Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Many were faithful Catholics though others watered down the faith with superstition. I do think that some of the stereotypes are not completely without merit but are heavily exaggerated in the same way as other ethnic stereotypes.

I will have to check out your movie recommendation. Thank you! I am grateful for your kind heart and love for the Roma/"Gypsy" people.

God Bless,
