Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I did some research at AC Moore today. The stiffened felt is so cool- I could see a lot of potential for making different things with it. It was pricey, though: $1.69 per sheet (8.5x11, or maybe a little bigger) at my store. There were no "value pack" type deals.   I also saw packaged sets of letters and numbers made of stiffened felt- $4.99 for a set. They were peel and stick, too- can't get easier than that. I so wanted to buy some but wasn't sure what I would do with them. I can always go back.

Small wooden letters(precut so that you could make your own alphabet set) ranged from $0.80 to $1.50 per letter. That would add up fast.

Then I saw some Melissa and Doug wooden letter sets for about $6 per set, but the letters were all different colors. To build a set of five of each letter, it would be about $30, plus the cost of a box to put them in. So I wound up ordering the small moveable alphabet from Alison's for $38.

Anyway- that was my investigative activity for the day.

I think the sticky-backed stiffened felt letters would make excellent sandpaper letters. Not actually sandpaper, but still tactile. Just stick them onto matboard or masonite cut to size. My dd is beyond the stage of needing those, but if my grandsons do end up coming back, I will be making a set of those quickly. I think my mom has a mat cutter that would help speed things along.

I was thinking the same thing- cut some card stock, even, and stick those letters on there. Instant sandpaper letters- and, imo, even nicer, since some kids (and moms- me) don't like the sandpaper feel.
