Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This morning my 2 oldest boys came into my bedroom scratching themselves and complaining. After pulling their shirts up I found no less than hundreds of little red welts all over them. At first I thought it was chicken pox but after calling dh on the phone, realized that their afternoon roll through the fresh hay (yesterday) introduced them to chiggers.

I've never seen so many bites in my life.

They are really bad around here this year. The ticks, too.

Put clear fingernail polish on the chigger bites. This will suffocate the little pests and help with the itching. We have not had chiggers here in years however, I took 5 ticks off of my dd clothes last week. A good way to get a biting tick off is to put liquid soap on a cotton ball and place it on the tick. It will release from the skin and stick to the cotton ball. FYI

Have you tried this Anne? I read about it somewhere and I thought I heard it did not work. I would love it if it does, I HATE ticks!

I have not tried it yet but a friend of mine did and she said it worked like a charm. I have my cotton balls ready though. When I actually try it I'll post the results!
