I'm trying to get all the blogs I check into Bloglines. For some reason, it doesn't open the blog in a new window (isn't it supposed to do that) it opens it in the small section on the right of the screen and there are no pictures on any blogs. What have I done wrong?

It doesn't sound like anything's wrong. There should be a very small arrow on the border between your list of blogs and the window you read them in. Click that and the list window will collapse and the other window will get bigger.   click it again to see the list.

Blog owners can set how they want their blogs to be viewed in a reader. Not allowing the entire post to be seen or not having the pictures show up is a pet peeve of mine. I rarely ever go directly to a blog that only let's a blurb show up in Bloglines and will often unsubscribe after a while.

Anyhow...there may be a place in Bloglines to set your preferences to allow or not allow pictures to show up. But if the blog owner overrides that on their end, it won't help. Could it be that the blogs you've subscribed to just didn't have pictures that day? Are you subscribed to Dawn's blog? (By Sun and Candlelight) She almost always has a picture in her posts. If you don't see it, then it's probably your Bloglines settings.
