Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies , I just had the wierdest reaction to salami I just ate at lunch .It is not the first time this happened but its been so long since I ate salami I forgot all about it .
The re-action I have is , well like I get severly itchy in my mouth like hives .I never have had food allergies only pet allergies itchy eyes, hives if bad and at times but rarely breathing issues .
I also have sensetivity to oranges & tomatoes if I get the juice on my lips it does make me itchy too I always just thought it was due to the acidic qualities in those fruits . I tend to avoid them as they irritate my ecsema as well .
So what do salami and oranges 7 tomatoes have in common ?
It goes away when I swish with water and eat something like cucumber or yogurt etc. but oh my when it happens well ever scratch your mouth with your tongue
any ideas what might have triggered this ? it was naturally smoked no additives as far as I can tell .
I'll be interested to see what you all think
Much Love , Rox

Well, the only thing I could think of would be nitrates, but I don't think that those are something tomatoes and oranges have in common with salami...

Dang. Stinks to be you. I like oranges, and life without tomatoes would be, well, I shudder to think. Sniff. Sorry.

And sorry I can't be of more help. This doesn't happen with other lunch meat type foods? Hotdogs? Nothing like that? If not, then it isn't likely to be nitrates/nitrites.

No time right now, but I remember something about amines and salicylates in oranges and tomatoes (among other things) -- and processed meats like salami....

This is something I've been looking into because of food sensitivities in the family.

Won't be back 'til tomorrow, maybe some others will chime in here...
