Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are reading Farmer Boy right now, and it's truely a story that appeals to all ages and genders, even the two year old is loving it, almost as much as the twelve year old! :) It's funny to read it now in the heat of the summer!

This afternoon we will read a few chapters while eating store bought Krispy Kreme doughnuts.   My three year old actually asked me to make some doughnuts like Manzos mama made! I'd like to make some with a 'twist' so they turn over when they fry.

Can anyone recommend a resource for recipes from this story? I searched the forums here and I googled "Farmer Boy Recipes" and came up empty. Thanks so much!

There's "The Little House Cookbook" that has several recipes.

Here's a link to the doughnut recipe for you. (Click on page 89)

Here are a few links I found...

Little House recipes

Farmer Boy Dinner for Two

Bird's Nest Pudding (the poster of the recipe says "This is a traditional apple dessert, where the apples are cooked in a fluffy crust. This recipe comes from "The Little House Cookbook" by Barbara M Walker, and it featured in "Farmer Boy." This is my favorite recipe from this cookbook."
