Anyone using the Checkerboard for Math with theri dc?? If you have:
1) What is the benefit of this over say, the multiplication board/pythagoras board, and at what age did you introduce this?

2) Does it get used with the golden bead material or the colored bead bars (or both). And do you use your numeral cards with it?

I made this one, and we've used it for "long" multiplication. So, different from the multiplication/pythagoras boards.

You use it with colored bead bars only.

Mine is out of laminated cardstock, but I've seen boards made out of cloth (quilts, really). The advantage of those is the beads don't roll.

You need little squares with numbers 1-9 on them to make up the multiplicand and the multiplier. (Mine are cut-up post-its, but card stock would be better.)
