Yesterday I worked with 8yo dd with the test tube division material. We've only divided with single digits, but what a breeze compared to jumping straight into abstraction! (Which we did first. Mistake.)
I bought a wooden tray from Michaels, green, blue, and red beads from hobby lobby, and used white, gray, and black clay to put the tubes in. I bought tile spacers and colored them with Sharpie markers for skittles (then I bought some old skittles from my children's Montessori school, and I have to say I really like them!). The tubes I bought from someone in another state who picked up a boatload of them from a secondhand shop and advertised on MontessoriMakers, so I don't know how to help with that!  The containers for the beads are painted salsa lids.
Oh, and the boards I bought at Hobby Lobby. Just flat squares; painted dots on them instead of drilling holes. (Once I bought pegboard and tried to cut that up, but I'm not very strong, nor am I very handy; but I wield a mean Sharpie.)

I'm glad you like the glittery paint, but, um . . . what happened was I put a clear gloss on it, and it looked beautiful, then I put a second coat and it crackled. 
There used to be a site on which you could "play" Montessori math online, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Don't give up, I'll think of something.

Introductory Presentation, Test Tube Division: Introducing the Materials
This work follows work with the hierarchical materials and the large bead frame (abacus). You can see the hierarchical materials in the Nienhuis catalog--the huge million cube, 100,000 square, 10,000 rod, down to the tiny unit cube. I made mine out of laminated cardstock. The abacus I purchased from Mont n Such, and have been very pleased with it. Great for addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Materials needed for this presentation:
Test tube division materials
Large Bead Frame
Name the work for the child: Test Tube Division.
Lay out the material, from left to right, at the top of the work area:
Black racks, then gray racks, then white racks. (That is, if you haven't made your racks out of clay, like I did.)
Set out the dishes below the racks, again from left to right: black, gray (red, blue, green), white (red, blue, green).
Take out the large abacus and help the child discover how the colors of the racks and dishes correspond with the colors along the side of the abacus (the hierarchies). (Black=millions hierarchy, gray=thousands hierarchy, white=simple hierarchy.)
Set out the boards below the dishes: green, red, blue, green.
Set the skittles to the left of the racks and boards. Help the child notice how the colors of the boards and skittles correspond with the colors of the beads in the tubes and on the abacus.
Name how the materials will be used: The beads (in the tubes) represent the dividend (the first number in the equation).
The skittles represent the divisor (the second number in the equation).
The boards help us keep track of the categories of the quotient.

First Presentation, Test Tube Division: Short Division
Materials needed: Test tube division materials, paper, clipboard, pencil, prepared division equations (short division--no exchanging).
The paper has four colored vertical lines drawn on it: green, red, blue, green, about an inch and a half apart. Basically you do one equation on a piece of paper when you're starting out. The lines help the child keep track of the hierarchies.
Choose an equation, have the child read it. (3,999÷3).
Write the equation on the paper. (Write the 3 on the first green line, the 9 on the red line, the next 9 on the blue line, next 9 on the last green line. Draw the dividing symbol--the one used in long division, not ÷ --and the divisor, 3, in its usual spot. This is hard to explain, but simple to do. I'll try to send a picture.)
Have the child make the dividend with the beads in the tubes, starting with the thousands: put 3 green beads from the gray rack in the gray/green dish; 9 red beads from the white rack in the white/red dish; 9 blue beads in the white/blue dish; 9 green beads in the white/green dish.
Place 3 skittles (the divisor) along the top of the division board.
Recall the rule for division: sharing equally.
In division we begin with the highest hierarchy. So "share" the three thousand beads with the skittles. Ask what one skittle received. (1,000) Record the answer on the paper (you do it so the child can see how it's done--write the 1 on the green line ).
Clear the board by putting the beads back in their tube. (Leave the skittles, of course.) Move to the next hierarchy, the hundreds.
Do the same thing: share the beads, record your answer, clear the board, move on.
When all the hierarchies are completed, have the child reread the equation with the quotient: 3,999÷3=1,333.
Have the child practice with other short division equations (remember, no exchanging. The divisor should go evenly into each digit).

Second Presentation, Test Tube Division: Regrouping
Same setup as First Presentation; only use green unit board.
Have child choose and write equation on lined paper: 6865÷5.
Have child make dividend (6165) in lids, starting with thousand beads.
Place the skittles on the board to represent the divisor.
Remember the rule for division--sharing equally.
Begin sharing the thousands. Each skittle will receive one bead; there will be one left over. With the child, "discover" what we can do about the remaining bead: We can exchange the thousand bead for 10 hundred beads. (Place ten hundred beads--a whole test tube--in the hundreds dish and put the green thousands bead back in its tube.)
Ask the child what each skittle received (1,000) and record the answer.
Clear the board and continue with the hundreds, exchanging as above when necessary.
When all the hierarchies are complete, have the child reread the equation with the quotient.
The child may continue to work with other prepared equations. If there are remainders after all the hierarchies are complete, place them at the bottom of the board from left to right and record the remainder next to the quotient.
