Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know the AG series has been so wonderful for girls, is there something similar for boys?

If there isn't ..... couldn't one of you fabulously talented ladies make that happen for me please?

I would like a series of books, of course, and the consumer tie ins could be building sets instead of dolls.

Like a cabin or fort set for the colonial period, an American Indian village set, factory set, coastal set etc...

Ok, just let me know when it's ready and I will be the first customer.

FWIW, my ds 9 really enjoys reading the AG books, even in the face of teasing from his big brother.

Oh, Tracy, wouldn't that be a dream? Actually, a dear homeschooling friend of mine (also mum to 3 boys) and I have bandied such an idea about for years, as all of us *love* American history.

Molly, we've read some of the AG books too, and they're very nice stories for boys *and* girls, I think!

Ok, Dawn, I nominate you to begin this project!

I know at least one of my boys would enjoy AG, but really, the boys need their own series. It could cover things boys would be so interested in, that might never see the light of day in an AG book!

There aren't many, but a series I used with my son this year was My Name is America. The books are geared for grades 5-8. They are set up in journal form like the Dear America series. You might want to preview it as it has some heavy subjects (the Donner party, Japanese interment camps, etc.)from a teen boy perspective. My son read the Journal of Ben Uchida and thought it was good and easy to understand.
