Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wanted to post a link to my blog here in case you guys might be interested in something my dh made for me. I spied it in a few Montessori catalogs - I think they just called the activity Nuts and Bolts. A wooden structure supporting various nuts and bolts with the tools needed. Great sensorial activity for motor skill development. Anyway, I know I'll be spending a good bit on several investment pieces, so to save money I enlisted my dh to make this for me. It came out great! and my ds can't get enough. It was super easy to make - you probably have all the stuff you need in your garage right now! Anyway, if you're interested - check out my post on the Nuts and Bolts activity.

Wow- this past weekend I just showed my dh a similar project from a Montessori catalog! Now I am going to show him your pictures. Yours turned out great- I know my kids would love something similar.

This is great! Thank you for sharing...it looks like your men had a good learning experience together!

Catalogs and such are great for inspiration for materials! Ck out Kim Fry's post at her blog for making more do-it-yourself manipulatives!

I have the Baratta-Lorton books she mentions on her blog too and love learning about interesting ways to make hands-on work... Another source of inspiration from them BTW is the math books
Math a Way of Thinking
by Bob Baratta-Lorton
and Mathematics Their Way
by Mary Baratta-Lorton
found here at The Center for Innovation in Education
Also...At this site they have free blackline masters blackline masters

In all honesty, I find that we all (both big and little learners) enjoy and learn more from of do-it-yourself type projects even if it takes some ingenuity and time. It never has to be expensive.

God love you!
