Dd3 sits up with siblings and does her 'writing' which actually is within the lines She also insists on 'reading' and generally tries to be a 'big girl'. At best I am just keeping her quiet with an exercise book and humouring her.
Can anyone suggest easy Montessori activties to do at the table amongst other children doing their seatwork. I would really appreciate free sites of downloadables or easy activities to organise.

Thanks for asking here Erin and first let me direct you to one of the best sites I have found for wonderful ideas, downloads (many free) and just great discussion about any Montessori activities: Montessori for Everyone And here's her Blog
Recently she posted about Montessori Basics for the 3-6 Classsroom, here is the post!
What I have been doing with my littles (and could apply to your 3 yo) is lots and lots of Practical Life Activities, many basic Math/Counting Activites using beads, buttons, cubes, blocks, etc.
If she's really interested in "table work" she ould practice her letters and numbers in the sand tray! Here is a picture of one! Theresa made one herself and it turned out awesome, with orange sand too!!
She could *make* her own stories and *write* them with illustrations in a composition book that she could decorate with scrapbook paper.
If you have a slate or chalkboard for her she could practice her writing there as well, or paint them with a watercolor set.
I picked up the .Melissa and Doug See and Spell for my ds 5 and he really enjoys it, albeit a tad easy for him, but his younger brother will soon be using it as well!!
Also, an alphabet puzzle has lots of possiblities for extension. Matching Upper to Lower Case, and these could be done with magnetic fridge letters very easily!
She could be in charge of a new word on the fridge each week/day?
Sorting activites are also a hit around here, anything can be sorted by: size, shape, texture, color, etc.
There are so many other great ideas out there and I know you'll get some great responses, but hope this will help to get you started right away!!

I just checked out
I can do it! I can do it! by La Britta Gilbert from the library and it is GREAT! (135 Successful Independent Learning Activities) Kim has referenced this book on her blog and it's on her sidebar.
It uses everyday items that you'd probaby have in the house and it doesn't take long to set a few things up.
I just put together a braiding bar for my older girls and a Color Stick activity with tongue depressors for my 3-year-old. I figure if I can just set up one activity / week for the next 2-3 months, by September I'll have a nice choice of things for my 3-yr-old to do.

Suzanne this is one of the books I purchased and I have to say it is worth every dime!! I like your idea of trying to make so many per week to have a variety to choose from by September.
The other Montessori book that I really really like is Teach Me To Do It Myself The author color codes each area and this is how I have begun to set up and organize my Montessori materials. You should be able to get this one at the library also.

Thank you all for the great posts I have been busy reading and thinking. That is the hardest, marshalling all the thoughts flying around.
Unfortunately our library doesn't have Labritta Gilbert's book
