Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have a book recommendation for me? I'm looking for a book about various saints (for me, not kids). Everything I find is very concise and kind of like a saint-a-day for kids type of thing. I'd like to read a little more indepth?

Thanks!!!

I LOVE Bert Ghezzi's Miracles and Mystics Each saint is several pages long. Still a "survery" type book, but for grownups. More in-depth than saint-a-day books.

You might think about choosing one saint at a time, and then reading about that one. You could use a survey book to get ideas, then search out some other resources.

For example, St. Therese of Lisieux wrote her autobiography, The Story of a Soul.

St. Teresa of Avila wrote many books on prayer, and while they aren't autobiographies, they will teach you a lot about her! Examples: The Way of Perfection and The Interior Castle.

When I was newly Catholic, I found this to be the best way to really get to know the saints. Reading in depth about one at a time helped me to keep them straight, too.

Out of time -- have to get ready for VBS today! Pray for me!

Hi Lindsay
I've been wondering how you are I would second Karen's rec. More indepth is great, I have to say one of my favourite authors of saints books is Louis de Wohl.

Lindsey -
I second Louis de Wohl.

Tan Books has great saint stories that are engaging and wonderful. You MUST get their catalogue if you don't already have it! 1-800-437-5876. There are many great books about the individual saints in there and also compilations.

The story of Blessed Margaret is one of my favorites. It's a quick read and a page-turner.

I just read this little booklet about St. Philomena recently and loved it.
