Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

All my kids have had their "favorite" music - which I listened to before they were born and which I played after they were born.I usually take the music to the hospital and start playing it there! I have found music to be so soothing to a newborn/infant. I would love to hear what music you play. Our kids have loved the following:

- Come to the Cradle - Michal Card (love love love this - gets me through tough pregnancies)
- Bless my Little Girl (very old cassette - not sure it will do another child)
- G'Morning Johann
- G'Night Wolfgang
- World Sings Goodnight - and many other of the Putamayo cds
- Lifescapes: the Lullaby collection
- Music score from Cinema Paradiso
- Celtic lullabies
- Baby Einstein collection of cds - especially Mozart and Beethoven
- Through the Eyes of His Mother (Mark Forrest rosary cd)
- Andrea Bocelli cds
- Praise Baby cds

Isn't it fun preparing for a new baby!!!

I just had to resurrect this - my "new" favorite for Michael is Linda Ronstadt's "Dedicated to the One I Love" - I love it.

My little guy was born to music playing (Mark Forrest) and he is very receptive to different types of music. One of my favorite times is at the end of the day when all the other kids are in bed and we listen to music and cuddle

I am afraid we're big Beatles friends around here. I mostly listened to George Harrison's albums "Brainwashed" (just released after his death) right after my first delivery and "All Things Must Pass" while in labor with my second.

We've done lots of Wiggles, but one day we played Beatles for ourselves and oldest daughter fell in love. She was about 2 1/2. Her fascination waned a tad until we discovered Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (the movie) playing on cable last December. Since then it has been non-stop Beatles. As a result our younger daughter who just turned two a few weeks ago can sing the first five songs on the Sgt. Pepper album, but her favorite album is Magical Mystery Tour. A big family event has been going to see the local Beatles tribute band.

We have one CD of children's songs we play occasionally, Wiggles, and Sesame Street. When it's ballet time we go Tchaikovsky with Swan Lake or the Nutcracker; although lately we've been listening to Mendelssohn thanks to Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses.

Once our television has been turned on for the day, my husband prefers that it be left on, so I often change it to the Classical Masterpieces digital music channel if we're not watching a specific show.

Oh, and sometimes they enjoy listening to my Loreena McKennitt with me.

We began listening to Sleep Baby Sleep by Nicolette Larson when my twins were born. Now they are 8 and they and their older sister 10 and their younger brother 7 still fall asleep to the same music. It is so soothing sweet and very meaningful to all of us. The words to the songs have very special meaning to mom most of all

My husband is from Liverpool - so we are Beatles fans too!! My kids can put on a "scouse" accent even though they have not grown up there!! Needless to say this goes with soccer mania in our house!

Another Beatles lover here too! My husband was a huge Beatles fan when I met him, and he converted me. We have their whole collection, so if I have music on during the day, it's usually one of their albums. And my toddlers love their music too--my daughter starts dancing as soon as she hears it playing. Daddy sometimes plays Beatles songs on the guitar for them too.

I have to admit, I am just NOT a fan of "children's music." Maybe I'll soften over the years... I do like Elizabeth Mitchell, though, as I mentioned before. It's still a hit in our house, months later.

And my daughter absolutely adores my husband's CD of college fight songs! You should see her dancing around to "Sons of Westwood"!

Appalachia Waltz was my son's favorite, hands down. One description: "It's a hybrid, something new, blurring the lines between classical, jazz, bluegrass, and Celtic." It features cellist Yo-Yo Ma and fiddle player Mark O'Connor.

We tend to play a wide variety of classical music to the children, including masses and Gregorian chants, with some swing and crooner stuff, and in desperation to keep them awake in the car loud modern house music from the radio! Their "comfort music" is me singing Amazing Grace and other hymns.

I used to be a huge Natalie Merchant/10,000 Maniacs fan. I've done alot of midnight swaying to many of her songs. "My Beloved Wife" does me in each time!

[QUOTE=Lisbet] I used to be a huge Natalie Merchant/10,000 Maniacs fan.

She had a popular song out when I was pregnant with my first who was almost named Natalie because of her wonderful voice    I crank it up when we hear it on the raido and we all sing along. Time goes by so fast and before my eyes I have not babies but young ladies and man I try to Enjoy every second at home as a family learning together " my new motto "
