Could you all offer a pray for my 15 yr old son, Charlie? Apparently, he was in an altercation at school and was shoved to the ground. He did not retaliate, probably because he didn't get a chance. He is not home yet, but I know what his reaction will be. He will be furious and determined to get even.

Can you pray that he does not get into trouble and that no one gets hurt? I need to cal the school back and make sure the other boy won't be in school tomorrow, (I would hope not! ) because I think time is necessary for this to settle down.

Well, he doesn't seem too irate, surprisingly. What happened is that an older boy (18 yrs old!) decided to pick a fight with my son and his friends during lunch. My son does not even know the guy. This boy started calling names and hurling insults. My son and his friends tried to ignore them, but did exchange some nasty words with the other boys when they wouldn't back off. When Charlie left to go to class, the guy and his friends followed and continued to harass Charlie. Charlie finally turned around and told the guy to back off. Then this guy charged at Charlie and shoved him, sending him flying backwards about 4 feet. Charlie landed on his hand, which is very swollen and sore. By the time he got to his feet, there were teachers there to hold him back.

I need to follow up tomorrow to find out what they are doing about it. It is all on video. If we aren't satisfied with the school's action, we can file assault charges as the guy is an adult.

I think Charlie will not try to get him back. First, he knows that there are only three weeks left of school and it's not worth getting in trouble at this point. He knows we won't tolerate fighting. Secondly, the guy is much bigger so the outcome would not be good.

Apparently, this is not unusual in the high school. I don't get it. My son asked if I was proud of him for not throwing the first punch, because he really wanted to, even if the guy was bigger. I am proud of him. He could definitely learn to be more diplomatic and find ways out of conflict. But in an environment like that the boys all have something to prove. He showed restraint that even surprised me a little, because he likes to talk big.

If you could just offer a quick pray in the morning that the day goes by without incident I would appreciate it.
