I am having a really hard time keeping up with my family and am very discouraged. My twins aren't sleeping well, so I rarely have any time to myself to recharge my batteries... or even to eat, which I'm afraid is going to compromise their yet-to-be-born brother's health. My 8 yo dd and 4 yo ds have been really grumpy lately and their behavior has been going downhill, and I'm sure it's related to how much time I have to spend taking care of the twins (mainly because my dd seems to throw that fit every day -- "you're always doing things with the babies! You never have any time to do anything else!") All the kids have been arguing more than usual, actually. Then my dh recently found out that he has high cholesterol, and *I* found out that he generally eats lunch at McDonald's. I feel like I have let him down, too.
Honestly I have tried pretty much everything I can think of to help improve our situation (some other problems I haven't described as well), and nothing seems to work. I am so worn out that I am considering asking my OB about antidepressents.
Anyway, I would appreciate it if you could say a little prayer for me/us -- my dh's cholesterol problem, the babies to sleep, or at least for me to be able to handle everything without feeling like I want to crawl into a hole.
Thank you
--Angela

Praying, praying, praying, Angela - you know I can relate.
Is it possible to offer up my past week for you - there was plenty there to offer, LOL! Does that work or does it have to be something in the future? I'm new at this stuff. I'm afraid to offer up my future days for you because I may just lose it completely (things always seem to get worse here when I say I'll offer up X, Y, and Z today!)
OK, I'm being silly, but really, I'm praying hard for you.

Oh, honey, I could have wept reading your post. I know the concern of a spouse' high cholesterol. And your dd's plea just breaks my heart.
Then there is the worry that you, the wife and mother of this beautiful family, is putting too much blame upon yourself. I know the feeling well. I take the problems and concerns of my whole family and tack them onto my sleeve like a bunch of Post-It notes. It's incredible that we do this, but we do.
You are one person, dear, and cannot be everything to everybody. One day your dc will have to realize they are responsible for their own happiness and frame of mind. They will learn this not from anything you say but by how you react.
Definitely seek help if you need it. Definitely sit down with your dh for a long one-on-one talk. Ask your dh if he can watch the twins one evening so you can take your dd out for a treat of ice cream. She isn't pleading for all your time, just a little. Thirty minutes will do.
Plan a salad for supper every night, with or without the regular meal. It's a baby step, but it's a step. Perhaps it will help ease your mind about your concern regarding your dh's high cholesterol.
I will be praying for you and yours...especially for those dear babies to sleep. Do you all take a nap in the afternoon? Perhaps get together on the living room floor and just...lie there. Scatter picture books. Dim the lights and put on quiet soothing music. Tell a story off the top of your head.
Just some musings. I wish I could come over and help in a more material fashion. I will be praying.

Then again, perhaps that wouldn't happen, huh?
I think you all need to spend the whole morning outside, then perhaps that nap would happen.
See the twins could help you do this.

I echo everything that Cay has written, very wise words Angela. Don't kick yourself around too much, your needs are important too.
Don't forget, your dh is a grown man - he can certainly take the bulk of responsibility for his high cholesterol. They do sell salads at McDonald's after all.
And I will most certainly keep you in my prayers. I know what you feel like (I imagine many mothers do). I will especially pray that you find a way to get someone (dh maybe) to look after the kids so that you can get some sleep!

Praying that things ease up and you find some peace. I just went through a rough patch like that a couple of weeks ago. I somehow managed to survive, and things are looking up. I'll pray for your intentions!

Just wanted to add that my dh used to have high cholesterol during his MBA program ( a few years ago) when he was having lots of fast food too. Now that he has slowed down on that (we all still indulge occasionally) his choloesterol crawled back to a normal level. Hopefully with healthier menu choices your dh's can too.
