Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I posted over on the Outdoors forum, but I thought I would put this here too if it is ok. I posted on my blog, a picture of a flower that is blooming in my parent's wooded yard. We can't make an identification.
If anyone can help we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Kinda looks like a kind of bluebell...

At wikipedia, they had this picture:

Common Bluebell

or this

Spanish Bluebell

Wiki says native to Europe, but does that mean it can't be from the US??

But it's definitely not a VA bluebell...different leaves and the VA bluebell flower is smaller. Got to see those thanks to recmmendations here!

Are your folks in NY too?

Dawn commented on by blog to check into bluebells. I looked them up and they look like maybe either english bluebells or spanish bluebells. They are bulbs so I guess they could be planted anywhere. The funny thing is that my dad doesn't remember planting anything like that, so they don't really know where they would have come from.

I have to tell a story though. Last fall my mom got after my dad to plant some bulbs she found in the shed. He did, and this spring up popped some garlic. It was home grown garlic a neighbor had given them to eat over the winter.

My parents and I live in northern upstate NY. I am going to blog about their yard and wildlife tonight. It is awesome.
