Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know there was some chat on the boards, about this film, last year.

My dh and I saw it last night - very inspiring. I blogged about it this morning.

If you have a chance to see Into Great Silence, grab it! It was especially riveting to me, as I am re-reading Godden's "In This House of Brede" and could make many connections between the two.

My dh and I have been following this movie closely. Unfortunately, it was not released anywhere near us on the 'big' screen, but it was released on dvd just recently. Dh went to the video store to rent it last week, but they told him that it had been rented out and never returned. We took that to be a sign that it was a great film ! Unfortunately for us, they are not getting another copy in, so we'll have to track it down somewhere else. Glad you enjoyed it, Leonie!

Leonie! We are so SYMPATICO -- dh, mom and I went last night with a good friend who is also a Dominican sister.... we really liked it ... but 2:42 is amazingly long for me to sit (altho I did bring my knitting )....

It truly is fabulous -- a year in the life of Cathusian hermits ... amazing!

Marty, I discussed with my dh the length of the film - we both thought it could be a bit shorter and still retain its impact.
