Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone know anything about this? Someone mentioned it over on Fireside Chat and I'd love to know more as we're keen on olives here for lots of reasons. Can't find anything meaningful via Google.

The title came up in a discussion last spring about images of Our Lady. It's about halfway down the first page. There is not a ton of info.

Here were some links that were mentioned there:
What about Our Lady of Olives?

Because of this thread, at Mass today, I thought of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of MOUNT Olive.

After our Lord's Ascension to heaven (from Mount Olive - I heard that correctly today right?)after the angels galvanize the apostles into action, I can easily imagine all eyes turning away from the sky and looking to the Virgin Mary to help them live their lives as Christians.

Wouldn't that be the most natural thing to happen?
I'm going to think of this idea as Our Lady of Mt. Olive.

And I just found this link tonight - very interesting. It's interesting to search these titles under the name in another language. You often get lots more hits. Too bad I can't read French, Italian, etc.

And this is an image of Our Lady of Olives. I REALLY wish I could enlarge this and read the caption. Bet it is very informative.

Okay, I guess I'm a little obsessed with searching Our Lady's different titles and shrines. It is so facsinating.

I have this medal. It was with my grandpa, in his pocket when he died. He was the only Catholic in my family. I thought it a very appropriate medal for him as he was a fisherman from Sicily living in Tampa, FL, lightning capital of the world!
I am saving it for ds, who is named after my grandpa.
