Do you guys participate in your Parish Rosary or Altar guilds? I've just been installed as the Secretary of ours ... I'm the youngest member (and at 45 it's amazing to be the youngest in ANY group).
I am trying to understand how this group has evolved to just being the over 60s? Shouldn't it be for all the ladies in the parish? How do we encourage the "younger" ones to help too?
Any advice, comments, etc would be appreciated.....

I've never been involved w/ an Altar or Rosary Guild but at a previous parish that had one I frequently thought about joining but it always sounded like "an old ladies group." By that I mean they met at times that weren't conducive to moms with families at home and had outings to places that younger moms wouldn't be as interested in.
Maybe they would've been glad to have me, but it didn't seem welcoming. Things that would make it more welcoming would be an outright invitation to younger moms ("The Altar Rosary Society is having a new member night. All women of the parish, even mothers with young children, are invited to attend."). Also, maybe arrange to have jr. high/high school students available to babysit (at least for the initial meeting).
Just my .02 cents! Good luck with your endeavors!

I don't think my Parish even has a guild. If they do, they sure keep it a well guarded secret!

I think this is the problem at many parishes -- it's the ladies who have "always" taken care of the altar and sanctuary ... but there shouldn't be any reason not to include younger women (even teen girls) especially if a parish is male-only altar servers as the altar/rosary is a natural alternative to the girls in the parish.
My thing is that some of these ladies are quite elderly and really can't do a whole lot. We have a monthly meeting with a rosary, luncheon and some kind of program ... but we could and should do so much more, especially if we can get some "young blood" in there....

No ideas off the top of my head. In all honesty, I don't know what a Rosary Society is supposed to do!
Count me in though...I'd love to be involved!
