Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I need help making a decision! My Oma (dad's mum) lives in England and it has been more than 10 years since I have been there to see her (I was in sixth grade I think!). She is getting a lot older and has not been feeling very well more and more. I really want to see her and introduce her to my family (dh + 2 kids) before she goes but it is is soo expensive to fly over there! We would basically have to charge it and we are just now getting out of all our debt. I fear I will regret not going, but also fear the big expense.

What would you do???

That's a tough one. I would have to find a way to not go into too much debt for me to even be able to relax and enjoy my trip. I wonder if there are travel savvy people here who could help find the least expensive way to travel? Are there extended family members who could chip in for expenses? Could you find ways to save at least half of the expenses before going? Have a garage sale?

I sure hope you can find a "yes" to see Oma!

Love,

yeah I am praying that God will give me some sort of obvious answer...a really good deal on tickets! :)

Well I think we are all in the same situation of wanting to go and not being able to afford it.

I guess I could do a garage sale...seems like so much work and do they ever really make that much? I'll just start saving and sacrificing.

I just feel guilty using the money as an excuse to not go see her.

Is she well enough to make the trip? Paying for one person would be a great deal cheaper.. or even two so she'd have a travel companion.. and having her stay with you and feed her etc.. wouldn't impact your food budget all that much to add in just one more.

Could your parents help you out a bit with the $$$?
I would check out travel websites b/c often they have great resources on frugal ways to travel. Go off season and start scouring airline ticket prices so you will know when a good deal comes along for your family.

Pray to St.Joseph and he will certainly help you with your finances.

God bless!
