Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ok this was a great day for our kids . I discovered a bat this am when I went out to get the mail
I was coming back into the house and saw this big brown blob on the wall of the house . I thought it was a huge june bug or beetle
shows how bad my eyes are
I looked closer and saw it had fur
So we posted pics of it http://anaturalhistoryhome.blogspot.com/
We tried to set the little creature down on our bird house as no birds live in it . He flew away though .
A really neat experience for our kids
Much Love , Rox

I love bats! We caught a Mexican free-tailed bat at dh's office a few weeks ago. (They live in the attic and come down into the offices and then can't figure out how to get out. It had taken refuge inside an almost empty box of coke cans.) We took it home and put it in our bat house, but of course, it didn't come back the next day.

Wow, Rox, he is so cute! Great pictures! A couple of years ago we had a similar bat on our front steps in the middle of the day - no idea how he got there!

Well Janette I'm not quite where you are regarding bats but he sure was cute from behind my front door
Dawn did you by chance have an outside light on ?
I called my mum yesterday to ask her about bats and she said the little brown bat eats mostly insects .Flying at night to catch them and especially in moonlight and I guess street light in the city .
I'd left out outdoor light on by mistake that night I think the little fellow must have been snacking and got so full he decided to nap right there
I'd read about bat houses yrs ago from Macbeth and so ds thought maybe the empty birdhpouse would do but I guess the bat thought otherwise
Today is cold and rainy so it is ies and teatime instead of nature study
Much Love , Rox

Aww, give it time, Rox! I wasn't quite where I am regarding bats either!    I've been fascinated with them for several years, now, though.      Besides, this one was so small and cute -- like yours -- and it wasn't flying around when we caught it either --it was cornered . Makes it easier to be brave.

We've had several bats in our house through the years.   My kids find them charming.   It's pretty exciting trying to catch them to get them back outside again.   I've heard you can make a bat house to try to attract them; they're nice for us to have around (though not inside) because of the mosquitos in the summer.
