Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello everyone! My husband is currently Active Duty Air Force and will be getting out of AD and going into the Reserves the end of August. He will have to go to tech school in Texas for 6 months before we go to our next assigned base in Omaha. We are planning on going with him, but this is normally unaccompanied so we are on our own for housing.

Have any of you ever had to try and rent somewhere for 6 months with a large family? We know we will probably only be able to afford a 3 bedroom apartment (but it won't be forever) but don't they usually have a limit on the number of applicants? How do you get around that? Do they make exceptions?

We are clear up here in South Dakota so we probably won't be able to take a trip down to check things out before the move, which is very scary! Any words of wisdom on moving for a short term one place? We have already decided that we will be having to put our household goods in storage for that amount of time--any ideas on cheaply furnishing an apartment for 9? What do we keep out and take with us? This is all so crazy to me. I'm a planner and add to that we're having a baby next month this is all just getting to be too much!!! I hope you have some great ideas, or at least encouragement!!

The decision to make this move was after many, many months of praying and we feel that it is what God is calling us to do, but that doesn't make it any less scary. Thanks for letting me share--I'm off to try and think about something OTHER than our move for awhile! Yeah, right! LOL!

Chandra, mom to Lexi 9, Tori 8, Liz 6, Gen 4, Becca 3, Michael 20 mos and baby boy due next month!

apartment complexes are more likely to have regulations on the numbers in the apartment.. when we were in Tucson it was typically under 1 year didn't count for bedroom space, then every two people.. but maybe even that over 5 couldnt' have different sex children in the same room... something like that.

But we rented a house privately that didn't have any such rules..

So that would be my suggestion.. that it's likely a case by case basis and that apartment complexes are likely to be fairly standard but renting a house from someone would give you more leeway.
