This year for dd's 6th bday, we're promising to take her to the beach. Dd's have never been to one before so this will be big. It's just going to be the 4 of us. That will be in late Aug/early Sept. I'll be about 8mo pregnant by then. I'm looking for a nice maternity bathing suit and something more than just a bikini type bottom. I just wont feel comfortable in something like that. I've been looking online but i cant find a more conservative bottom. I'd love some help from you ladies, if you can. TIA!

This is a very tough question! I happend upon one at the thrift store last week and I snatched it up. I didn't think I'd like a two piece, but the one I found really covers my entire belly and is generously cut at the legs too, thus covering my bottom nicely! The top is not too low cut and it is skirted, and the skirt covers my bottom too, double the coverage! The skirted top was what sold me on it. It's a from DUE maternity, which is JC Penny I think. The bottoms look like these, but I don't see a simliar top online, mine is much longer and less low cut than the ones they show.

Last year we went to the beach when I was 7 months along and I was not happy with my suit at the time, so I wore a gauzy sundress over it, even in the water, and that worked nicely.

Have you tried ebay? I have seen some decent ones there too. I hope you find what you are looking for.

I just spent a good 20 minutes trying to search for a recent thread. There was a link to a maternity suits site that I thought was terrific. The prices weren't outrageous...can anyone help?

Have you tried Old Navy online? I found a nice one there two years ago when I was pregnant with Jack.      I haven't looked recently though.

I also found a one piece at Wal-Mart around the same time. I am not sure what they carry now though. Sorry! Good luck and enjoy the beach!

Blessings,
Krisann

I'm currently looking for a maternity suit also. Last pregnancy I found a great one a Target, unfortunately I got rid of it and now the one I saw at Target did not have enough bottom coverage. I did find this swim dress at Motherhood online. I also saw a couple that looked promising at Maternity 4 Less, they were at least two pieces with a longer top than most.

Hope this helps, I'm searching too!

Old Navy had a lot of tankini type bathing suits that i didnt like. I did see the one from Motherhood and the price is good so i might go with that one. I can only shop online as i'm overseas. The bathing suits here are very expensive and dont go on sale til after the summer. Thanks for your help!

I have been searching also. I found at a consignment shop, one that had a skirt with a dress top, which is nice. What I really want are shorts with more of the dress type of top. I have the top, but can not find maternity shorts made out of the quick dry material(like Lands End womens swim shorts). I've even looked for maternity running shorts, but no luck. I think I might try a sporting goods store and go for a bigger size--not sure if that will work with my bulging belly.

It is very frustrating if you don't want to wear the normal underware cut bathing bottoms.

Yes, i wish they had board short type bathing suits for pregnant women. I'm more comfortable in those, pregnant or not.

Jeanne, I tried on a pair of 'boy cut' shorts, (they were not board shorts, but they went down much further on the thigh.) and my backside was so glaringly out there in those! It was obscene! And while the skirted top helped, there were just too many buldges to work on! While the higher cut bottoms show more leg, in a weird way they also conceal more backside.    Sounds weird, I know, but it's what I discovered that awful afternoon in the dressing room!

In my search for board shorts, I came across these and these. The first are crazy expensive and look alot like the 'boy cut' shorts I tried on, the second look pretty good, but I think a tank suit underneath would be in order. Hope this helps some.
