Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I vowed to explore Louisiana a bit more on my blog because so many viewers come there looking for Louisiana Lagniappe.

The girls and I were lucky enough to see an art exhibit last week. In the true flavor of Louisiana, this artist takes dirt and clay from different regions in Louisiana and turns them into paint. Different minerals in the mud create different colors:

Very cool, Cay!

I'm at the library right now and my connection at home isn't working (we moved furniture and haven't reestablished the dsl line yet)...

Anyway, I intend to check this out later!

Because of Cay's post, we visited Mr. Neubig's studio in Baton Rouge last week--so very cool! And Mr. Neubig was delightful. Amazing the beautiful and diverse colors he makes with Louisiana mud.

Before we went in I explained to the children that we were going to see paintings painted with mud. My 8yo dd said, "So they're really muddings?"
