Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

MacBeth,

Help! Is there a living book on systems of the body suitable for high school students or adults? I am trying to do a high school level biology course with living books. There seem to be a number of books covering other topics in biology, but not that area.

Btw, thanks for your great website! I really learned a lot from it. I just wish I had seen it years ago. I think at least my oldest dd would have liked science much more if I had done it "your way."

In Christ,

I'm not MacBeth, but here goes. There's a movie out about the men who discovered DNA, called _The Race for the Double Helix_. I have not seen it myself.

There's a book about Rosalind Franklin: The Dark Lady of DNA, by Brenda Maddox. It was Franklin's photograph of the DNA molecule that sparked a scientific revolution. The photo showed, for the first time, the essential structure of DNA -- the double-helix shape, which also indicated its method of replication.

Do plan to extract DNA. Here's one of my favorite experiments:
