Hello,
Can you give me some ideas for a baby gift for my dear friend. She just gave birth to her eigth dc yesterday-the sixth boy! She now has five boys under the age of 8. If I ask her, she'll just tell me to pray for her. But I'm already doing that! She is such a generous and kind friend, who loves quality and simplicity. I am low on budget and even lower on energy.
Please and thankyou!!
Christy

Unless she is die hard cloth user, just get diapers for baby and flowers for her. Simple, pretty and useful.

Yes, diapers! I always appreciate a new package of onesies. Would she like a meal, a gift card to eat out, or chocolate? I think Bridget's flower suggestion is very nice as well.

What about a potted plant or potted flowers in the bed of a toy dump truck (that the son can play with later)?
I heard of this before I had my first boy and I always though that it was such a creative combination of practical and frivolous!

well as a mum of 6 I know the boy girl thing never really mattered to me on gift . I loved when people the first week made us supper or ordered pizza . As well often they'd bring a bag of disposal diapers and maybe toys for the older kids to keep them busy . My friend after I'd had baby #4 brought over a basket of craft items for the kids to use while I napped with baby .
I always loved little cotton undershirts and socks for summer time wear . Cotton sleeper is nice too .
oh yes baby wipes to go with those diapers .
Really those are the things that made the biggest impact on me . I guess if its something specific for baby and to have my girlfriend gave me a picture frame it has noah's ark around the frame . We put babies pictures in it . Really I am not a collector of stuff so I can't say toys or silevr spoons ( which we also received ) made an impression on me . Taking our kids out to the park was much better :-) . Much Love Rox

I would think if it's the sixth boy then new basic items like socks and onesies would be nice as they tend to wear out.

I agree with everyone else. Anything that would really get worn out/stained, things that get used up (ie, diapers and wipes), and meals.
I'm due with #4 and 5 sometime in the next 6wks. And those are the things I could use most. That and a nap. but no one can 'give' me one of those, lol.

I double this. Sometimes simple things like this are so needed, they wear out, and you don't get to replacing them.

I once gave a mother-of-many a brand new set of silverware. A lot of the silverware she had from her wedding was lost, stained, warped, etc. The gift was greatly appreciated. I think every Mom of 6 or so should get a whole new Wedding Shower!

Food.
Also, I often try to give gifts to the OTHER kids when a friend has a new baby. Sometiems they get left out....
Inexpensive flashlights, a new box of crayons are nice gifts.
Yours in Christ,
Kathy

You Ladies are great! Thankyou!
I*love* the idea of the dump truck of a planted plant-so cute!
I think I've decided to go with a little pack of onesies and socks for baby, flowers and food giftcard for Mom, and dollar store gifts for her four little guys under 6yo!
I am going to give the family another day or two before I bring them over. She has lots of family in town, so I am sure she is well cared for at this point.
THanks again,
Christy
