what they listen to when they are playing air hockey.....
For Christmas we got the kids an air hockey table and a stereo for the basement. The other day some homeschooled neighbor boys were over playing. The had an air hockey tourny and were listening to The Life and Times of George Washington.

And right now, my boys are watching thier favorite show-- Mythbusters. As long as something blows up, they're happy.

Yep, mine tend to want to listen to Beethoven's Wig 1 or Beethoven's Wig 2 or Classical Cats or want to watch Schoolhouse Rock -- definitely homeschooled!

My guys favorite TV show is Future Weapons. I prayed for pacifists, (my ds9 just asked what is a pacifist?) really I did. One morning they did a Lincoln Log, unprompted, narration combining all the weapons from the show.

Don't you LOVE homeschooling? They'd never do this if they were ps'ed .... I love when they spontaneously narrate or act out or build something we've done ... even if it was covered months ago! And the big ones and little ones get into as much as they can too....

Today my dd (9) asked, "In a real classroom, how do you get a kleenex when you need one?" I replied, "You have to raise your hand and ask the teacher, because the box is on her desk." "Ohhhh," she said.
(We all have colds, can you tell?)
At our place, it's Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs. You should have seen my ex-West Virginian children laugh at the turkey farm one.
Mike Rowe: You just can't imagine how bad this smells!
My Kids (picking themselves up from the floor after laughing extremely hard): Oh, YES, we can!!!
Pass the kleenex.

My 5yo loves Dirty Jobs! He came in from playing in the snow one day, covered with mud (nope, not sure how he managed that one!) and looking down at himself said, "hey, I look like I just did a dirty job!"
BTW-- do you think Mike Rowe could handle our jobs . . .

DH and Nicholas enjoy watching Mythbusters and a show called How Things Are Made (?I think that's the name).
Right now, Nathan & Olivia each have a dictionary and are playing a new game -- big brother calls out a word and they are racing to see who can find it first.

We don't get piped in tv.. only when we're visiting.. but my oldest loves the cooking shows.. last year when we were making jam she came up with her own show and talked our way through jam making.. all we needed was a "live studio audience"

My kids like cooking shows, too (ds likes Rachael Ray!), but they gave Giada a thumbs-down because they watched her go into Harry's Bar in Venice, order all kinds of yummy food, eat two bites and push the plate away! They were outraged. Wasting all that wonderful pasta!

This reminds me of one of my favorite scenes in the newer "Lion Witch and Wardrobe." It's just before the children start their game of hide and seek. Susan and Peter are playing a game where she tells him a word from the dictionary, and he tries to guess if it's Latin or Greek roots. She mentions "gastrovascular," Peter guesses "Latin," and Edmund says "Is it Latin for 'worst game ever invented'?"
