Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are on around p. 26 of this book and I am NOT impressed. I have always been leary of this book because of him being an outlaw. I didn't remember the whole story from childhood so we began reading it. SO far, he has murdered someone because they shot an arrow at him (and missed) and lied. He is supposed to be the good guy, right? Does this continue? I don't want to keep reading it if he keeps doing things against the commandments. I have this problem with other books as well. Tom Sawyer comes to mind. He lies, is disobedient and an overall terrible role model.

My dh and ds, 9, contend that he killed in self-defense after his serf was unjustly killed and his life was in danger. They aren't sure what lie you are referring to. However, my dh does say that Robin's character is not as clear cut as we see in the movies. He does do things like kill the King's deer without just cause. The King does side with him and fight beside him.

I haven't read it, but they all, dh and kids, just listened to the book on tape. I will have to ask dd 11 her impressions. You know, a woman's opinion.
